Are you under 25 years old and making your own films somewhere in the UK? Or are you involved in providing any moving image production opportunities to the under 25?s (excluding accredited courses) ?
Yes? Then we would like to hear from you (NB this applies to UK residents only).
The Bfi ? in partnership with the national Youth Agency ? has commissioned the ?Camera Action? research project to undertake a comprehensive, national survey of current practice in this field. Camera Action aims to produce a directory of practitioners and places engaged in teaching young people how to make their own moving image productions.
Would you or your organisation like to be included in this?
We hope that Camera Action will produce a more developed picture of the nature, range, value and extent of production activities currently taking place across the country. To this end we have designed a questionnaire to assess each of these areas. The questionnaire will be available on-line (www.bfi.org.uk) in PDF format from September. All those who complete a questionnaire will be entered for a prize draw with an iMac as a prize! We also want to hear practitioners? views on how current funding and policy frameworks might help or hinder your aims in this field.
Or if these aren?t the main problems you face, what are?
We specially want to hear from anyone under 25 who is making their own movies - what are the main difficulties faced in trying to get a production together or distributed when you?re just starting out?
Anyone wanting to comment, object, ask questions, suggest other areas Camera Action should cover can contact Issy Harvey, (principal researcher on Camera Action), Education Projects, British film Institute, 21 Stephen Street, London W1P 2LN
